In this practical talk, we will look at why using technology is useful in our classes, and why teachers sometimes avoid using it. The key word in the title of this talk is “effectively”. Technology will indeed make our classes more dynamic and it will awaken interest regardless of students' age, but this is not the only reason for using it. Technology does things better than teachers and we need to learn how to exploit this rather than being afraid of it. Concepts we will deal with in this talk are: blended learning, bring your own device, and using technology to help us assess how our students are achieving learning outcomes.
