A Heart to be Heard: Humanizing the Teaching Experience LIMITED

For centuries, teaching has been the quintessential trait that humans retain despite the ongoing cultural and social evolution that has molded the modern world we live in today. It is because of that transcendence that the art of teaching and the richness of any learning process should be much more closely attached to the human heart than the technology we have at hand. This theme will be explored through the lens of a Costa Rican teacher, profoundly deaf from birth, who rose from his humble beginnings to become the only deaf English teacher in Latin America who teaches both hearing and deaf students. The limits of innovative and thoughtful teaching go far beyond our ever expanding technological advancements, for technology can never replace teachers who have their heart in the right place.
